The Connection Young Adult Ministry services young adults ages 18-35 in the Central Region (Detroit, Highland Park, Hamtramck). This includes the Genesis, Trinity, Renaissance, and Southwest Vicariates.
Vision
To build up and maintain the Body of Christ in our Catholic Young Adults.
Mission
To minister and maintain a continued connection with Christ and the Church whereby facilitating spiritual development through social and communal experiences shared among young adult members in the Church Community. Meeting Young Adults where they are in their spiritual maturity and development with special attention paid to the racial and ethnic diversity of the Central Region.
A plan was developed and refined over the "past three years with input from vicars, campus ministers, young adult ministers, parishioners, etc. The plan was approved by Central Services Curia, the Council of Vicars and the APC in 2003. Specifically, this ministry exists to gather more young adults into the church and allow for more engagement with God and their community. It is to strengthen individuals and parishes and will add participating members to parish communities who will give of their time, talent, and treasure. We wish to involve young adults in existing ministries in the Vicariates, diocese, and with their own parishes.
The Connection seeks to connect Detroit Young Adults with opportunities to worship, share their faith with each other, provide service and outreach, socializing, catechesis (learning about their faith), and leadership development.
